Enterprise and Supplier Development
Enterprise and Supplier Development is one of three Priority Elements on the B-BBEE scorecard to which Corporate Entities with a turnover of greater than R50 million measure themselves. As South Africa endeavours to right the wrongs of the past, create jobs and transform its economy, the implementation of ESD programmes have become a regulatory measure for these corporate entities.
SMEs in South Africa are challenged by access to finance and markets, poor infrastructure, labour laws, crime, skills shortages and inefficient bureaucracy. In order to ensure sustainability, these businesses need the support and guidance of knowledgeable, established, well-connected ESD programmes like that of Barloworld Siyakhula which focuses on nurturing, supporting and developing black owned businesses.
In 2022, Ciyandza Consultancy was launched and although Prudence Gololo still sits at the helm as Managing Director, she does so as a consultant to the ESD programme which is now managed by herself and the Ciyandza team.
Her expertise in the field continue to shine through with the success rate of Barloworld’s ESD programme. With Prudence to direct and the dedicated Ciyandza team to manage, Siyakhula fulfils the following:

The B-BBEE programme in South Africa and the promotion of localization in SADC countries aims to achieve economic transformation as well as address historical disparities resulting from the country’s past discriminatory policies, by supporting the development of Black-owned businesses. It requires companies to meet certain targets related to the procurement of goods and services from local, black-owned suppliers.
Government agencies, development organizations, and private companies are taking initiatives to support local businesses and suppliers in order to develop the African economy and create an inclusive society.
